8. Mexico is NOT a friend of the United States.......
He said longtime illegal aliens should be awarded a right to citizenship while recently arrived illegal aliens should not. He did not say what the cutoff date should be, nor whether those who didn't qualify would be deported, but he said those awarded citizenship are not getting amnesty. "What I have just described is not amnesty. It is a way for those who have broken the law to pay their debt to society and demonstrate the character that makes a good citizen," he said.
Now, let me get this straight. An illegal alien breaks the law which he/she has already done by being illegal, but let's say that same illegal went on a crime spree and for years after demonstrated the character that makes a good citizen.
What about that, El Presidente Arbusto?
The president is worried that the presence of military troops will hurt the feelings of President Vicente Fox of Mexico. He assured him it was only temporary. Meaning it will end the day after the 2006 election.

He blew it.......And it will be costly.
On this night Bush officially fell into lame duck status.
His base will walk away, and his party will suffer for the next three years.
Not my hope, just a prediction.
I think that he completely bombed. There were a few good points, but only from a one-sided aspect. I was really disappointed.
U.S. TROOPS TO THE BORDER IN ‘SUPPORT ROLE’ A SHAM
Excerpt:
“President Bush must not continue to sacrifice America’s national security and public safety to demands by our ‘good friend and partner’ Vicente Fox, whose corrupt officials are in the pockets of international crime syndicates. We need U.S. troops on the ground now, actually standing guard over our embattled border. We have enough ‘intelligence’ already to know that the Mexican government is facilitating drug and human trafficking into this country and encouraging the hemisphere’s poor, by the millions, to pay not just coyotes, but Mexican police, military and bureaucrats, to sneak into this country illegally and send $50 billion per year back to Mexico.
Bush on Immigration Reform: Missing the Mark
Yes, Bush did blow it, but that's Bush.
Let's not let his judgment alter ours.
We, as Republicans, cannot allow the Democrats to take over the House in November. We can't let that happen. If we do that would the biggest "blew it" the biggest "bombed" that we could possibly imagine.
I agree, RJay.
We need to look beyond Bush.
There's no reason to be defeatist. Now more than ever, it's important to push for conservatives principles.
