NYPD'S BLUE ANGEL CITY TARGETS TRIBUTE
Nitpicking bureaucrats are trying to clip the wings off an angel - a woman who runs a Web site devoted to slain NYPD officers - claiming she's engaged in trademark infringement for using the department logo.
Nitpicking bureaucrats: Weisel: "Have they got nothing better to do?" What do suppose Hillary and Chuckie think about this? Perhaps these nitpicking bureaucrats should visit here to be reminded of what happened in 2001.Dee Cook, 41, the devoted operator of nypdangels.com, was slapped with a legal warning by the city's Law Department last week for using the letters NYPD in a graphic that merges a police badge with angel wings.
The lawyers told Cook the touching tribute to officers killed in the line of duty would have to go, since it breached the trademark over NYPD, which is owned by the city.
The comprehensive site lists every police officer who has died in the line of duty since 1849.
Richard Weisel, from the Brooklyn & Staten Island 10-13 Association, said Cook's site was often remarked on by the law-enforcement community, which treasures the boost to morale.
"She does more for the P.D. than the P.D. does for the P.D." Weisel said. "Have they got nothing better to do?" NY Post
