We hope he's right about that last part. Here are three politicians bidding to be Commander in Chief, and they vote to undermine U.S. troops in the middle of a difficult mission, albeit knowing like Ms. Pelosi that their vote won't determine policy. Mr. Dodd and Mrs. Clinton both voted for the Iraq War resolution in October 2002, which means that they were for the war when it was popular but are against it now that public opinion has changed.

The Bush-Kennedy spin machine is desperately trying to say this is not an amnesty bill. GrassFire.org just received a copy of the actual bill (all 326 pages) and amnesty wasn’t hard to find because it STARTED ON PAGE 1, LINE 1!

The very first line of the bill makes it clear that illegals get “probationary status” before any border security triggers are implemented. Once given this legal status, the bill expressly states that a former illegal alien “may not be considered an unauthorized alien.” This is amnesty!

(May 21) Today, the Senate voted for cloture on S. 1348 by a 69-23 margin, which means the bill can now be subject to further debate and amended. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) said that the Senate will not finish work on the bill prior to the Memorial Day recess.
Veterans to Congress: No Amnesty
The American Legion – the nation's largest veterans organization -- is calling on Congress to reject proposed legislation that would grant "fast track" citizenship or amnesty to illegal aliens, and to reduce the illegal alien population through aggressive enforcement of immigration laws and stronger border security.
National Commander Paul A. Morin said “[The immigration] system is broken and it needs fixing, and the solutions being tossed around by some members of Congress are not in the best interest of this country."

The pro-amnesty Washington Post ran a weekend story indicating that the White House has been met with a firestorm of resistance throughout the country to its immigration plan. And the Washington Times ran a story Sunday with the headline: "Illegals bill sinks Bush job approval." A new Rasmussen poll found Pres. Bush's approval rating dropped to an all-time low for that poll, at 34 percent. "The president's ratings have tumbled each time immigration reform dominates the news," Scott Rasmussen said.

Global warming debunked

Climate change will be considered a joke in five years time, meteorologist Augie Auer told the annual meeting of Mid Canterbury Federated Farmers in Ashburton this week.

Man's contribution to the greenhouse gases was so small we couldn't change the climate if we tried, he maintained.

"We're all going to survive this. It's all going to be a joke in five years," he said.

A combination of misinterpreted and misguided science, media hype, and political spin had created the current hysteria and it was time to put a stop to it.

"It is time to attack the myth of global warming," he said.

Water vapour was responsible for 95 per cent of the greenhouse effect, an effect which was vital to keep the world warm, he explained.

"If we didn't have the greenhouse effect the planet would be at minus 18 deg C but because we do have the greenhouse effect it is plus 15 deg C, all the time."

The other greenhouse gases: carbon dioxide, methane, nitrogen dioxide, and various others including CFCs, contributed only five per cent of the effect, carbon dioxide being by far the greatest contributor at 3.6 per cent.

However, carbon dioxide as a result of man's activities was only 3.2 per cent of that, hence only 0.12 per cent of the greenhouse gases in total. Human-related methane, nitrogen dioxide and CFCs etc made similarly minuscule contributions to the effect: 0.066, 0.047 and 0.046 per cent respectively.

"That ought to be the end of the argument, there and then," he said.

"We couldn't do it (change the climate) even if we wanted to because water vapour dominates."

Yet the Greens continued to use phrases such as "The planet is groaning under the weight of CO2" and Government policies were about to hit industries such as farming, he warned.

"The Greens are really going to go after you because you put out 49 per cent of the countries emissions. Does anybody ask 49 per cent of what? Does anybody know how small that number is?

AL QAEDA IN IRAQ

How often has President Bush warned of a strong al Qaeda presence in Iraq - to derisory hoots from such critics as Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi?

For the Democrats, the War on Terror should be waged exclusively outside Iraq's borders. What's happening in Baghdad and Anbar province, they maintain, is nothing more than a Sunni-Shiite civil war - one from which America must cut and run.

Yet then an emboldened al Qaeda would bring the war to America. It's already happened once; no one knows what form the inevitable new attack would take.

Or where it would come. New York, again? L.A.? Chicago? San Francisco?

In critical elections, not just in the South, it may mean something." Moderator Stephanopoulos then jumped in: "I guess I think that anyone who's not going to vote for Barack Hussein Obama because he is black isn't going to vote for a Democrat anyway." The tape showed ten men firing “assault weapons” while calling for jihad and shouting “Allah Akbar” (god is great). After an investigation, the men, all in their 20s, were arrested after trying to buy AK-47s and M-16s from an informant.

Bush to kill pro-"gay" bill?
Liberals in the House of Representatives have passed the "hate crimes" bill, H.R. 1592, the Local Law Enforcement Hate Crimes Prevention Act, by a margin of 237 to 180. The Senate version (S. 1105) deceptively and sensationally titled "The Matthew Shepard Act" is expected to be voted on soon. But to the consternation of the bill's proponents on the left, and to the relief of those who value the constitutional mandate of "equal protection under the law," the President's office has signaled that a veto is likely should the bill arrive on his desk.

This clearly unconstitutional piece of legislation would grant individuals who choose to engage in homosexual behavior ("sexual orientation") or cross-dressers suffering from gender identity disorder ("gender identity") favored treatment over other citizens by elevating them to a preferentially protected class of victim.

Six foreign-born Muslims, hellbent on jihad, were charged yesterday with forging a sinister terror plot to attack New Jersey's Fort Dix Army base and slaughter as many soldiers as they could, authorities said.

The men - three of them brothers and all in their 20s and from the former Yugoslavia and the Middle East - allegedly had worked for nearly two years to collect maps and weapons and train themselves in how to use them and were just steps away from launching their assault.

Little did they know, the feds said, that their twisted scheme had been infiltrated by undercover FBI informants who surreptitiously made an audiotape of them discussing the plan for 16 months.

6 men charged with plotting to attack soldiers at Fort Dix

Six men described by federal prosecutors as "Islamic militants" were arrested on charges they plotted to attack the Fort Dix Army base and "kill as many soldiers as possible," authorities said Tuesday.

The six were scheduled to appear in U.S. District Court in Camden later Tuesday to face charges of conspiracy to kill U.S. servicemen, said Michael Drewniak, a spokesman for the U.S. Attorney's Office in New Jersey.

U.S. agents who infiltrated the group arrested the men last night and charged five of them with conspiring to kill U.S. soldiers. They face a maximum sentence of life in prison if convicted.
